Champion Malasadas started out as "Champion Bakery & Food" on the corner of North King St. and Robello Ln in 1983 by Joc C. Miw. At the time, the only staff Joc had were his wife Sandra, who worked as the cashier and his mother, who did the cooking while Joc did the baking and frying. Yes, you heard right. We did in-fact used to offer Chinese dishes and other foods such as hamburgers and breakfasts. In addition to food, we offered various multi-ethnic pastries and of course Malasadas. At the time, we sold Malasadas out of the display case, but we soon realized that a Malasada must be eaten as fresh as possible. This is why we decided to make all Malasadas fresh when ordered. It only took about 5 minutes to cook so people did not mind waiting the extra few minutes to sink their teeth into the crunchy and chewy Malasadas that we offered.
After about ten years, Joc's mother decided to retire, which led to Champion Bakery's new focus on Malasadas and pastries only. However, due to the popularity of breakfasts, we decided to keep offering breakfasts to our customers.
In 2000, Champion Bakery moved to its current location on South Beretania St. and underwent a name change to become "Champion Malasadas" so that there would be better focus on Malasadas.

Today, we are as popular as ever due to our awesome Malasadas and our loyal customers! We still offer the classics like the traditional Malasada, Raisin Snail, and Orange Chiffon Cake, but we have also listened to customer demands and created new offerings such as Custard and Chocolate Pudding Filled Malasadas and even more flavors of our famous chiffon cakes. See our Malasadas and Pastries Page for more information on our offerings.
We also accept Visa and MasterCard for your convenience.
